I’m organizing for a yard sale. Any organization tips to speed things up?
Question by Lissa: I’m organizing for a yard sale. Any organization tips to speed things up?
We’ve had yard sales before so I do know what to do, but now we also have 3 kids and all the junk that goes along with having kids: toys galore!! I’m looking for tips on organizing this yard sale as efficiently as possible, especially since our sale items will have to still be in our house till warmer weather. Ideas?
Believe me, I have totes/bins GALORE!!!! I guess my biggest problem is organizing while having 3 kids in the home!

Bins Bins Bins…. I have several bins that I use that are stored in the basement/garage. When something gets regulated for donation or the yard sale it goes in the appropriate bin. I have 5 currently marked: Kitchen, Toys, Clothes, Shoes, Misc. (I actually have 3 bins for toys) the biggest mistake made at yard sales with toys is that people forget about the “little”parts that make the toy workable.. I make sure batteries are removed so the toy doesn’t get destroyed and if there are little parts I tape the part to the toy and if it fits in a ziplock bag it the whole thing goes in the bag…
Hope this helps!
Edit: Once something goes in the bin, it is off limits, I solved the problem with my son by having him help me. I let him know that the money made from his toys would go to help the family in a fun way.. same thing with donations, the donations helped another child.. (we had issues for a while, but eventually he just excepted that the toys/stuff was no longer his to touch.) Have a great day!
